James Gonsoulin
Associate Pastor
At the age of 5 years old, I began a relationship with Jesus and have seen God faithfully work in my life throughout many seasons. I was born in New Orleans, LA and grew up there as well as in Tulsa, OK before moving to South Carolina in 2003 where I attended and played football at Wofford College. After graduating from Wofford, the Lord called me into full-time ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes along with serving as the college pastor at a local church in the Upstate.
Later, I served on a multi-site church staff as a youth pastor and then a campus pastor. I am married to my incredible wife Erica, who is my best friend, and we have two awesome children in Elias and Lillie. I love the Lord and genuinely seek to honor Him in all areas of my life. I love making memories with my family, working out, time with friends, sports, Jeeps, and the outdoors.
Alan Goldsmith
Worship Leader/Elder
God started using me in music at the age of 8 and I began my relationship with Jesus at the age of 12. I grew up in Anderson, SC playing music with family and friends. Music is deeply rooted in my family. After I graduated high school, God placed an amazing woman in my life, Sommer Goldsmith, who I ended up marrying. We have three wonderful boys: Leland, Gunnar, and Tillman.
God led my family and I to Gospel Light in 2016 where I was given the opportunity to lead worship. My heart is to set the example that worship is more than just music but rather a lifestyle that we choose to live every day. We serve God by serving others and putting their interests above our own. I’m thankful that I can serve others with the gift of music and I invite you to come experience what God is doing at The Light!
I started following Jesus in 2010 and He has just been so good to me ever since. I had grown up around church and had heard about Jesus from my parents but never realized there is a huge difference between knowing about Jesus and personally knowing Him. He opened my eyes to the reality of my sins and lost condition and miraculously saved me and radically changed my life. Since that time, He has grown me in so many ways and has done numerous incredible things in my life.
I attended Trinity Baptist College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Theology. During my time at Trinity, I had the privilege to be the Student Body Chaplain as well as serve in the youth group for all four years. Upon graduation, I returned home to Columbus, Ohio where I continued serving at my church, Fellowship Baptist Church. During this time, God brought the most incredible and beautiful woman into my life, Taylor. She is the girl of my dreams and I still can’t believe she is my wife. We absolutely love serving Jesus together and are so excited to be leading the Gospel Light students and young adults! I enjoy listening to music, working out, all things superhero related, sports, trading card games, and watching movies.

Joshua Chapmon
Creative Director
I studied video broadcasting at Liberty University where I met my wife, Jenilee. We were both born and raised as PK’s. I was blessed to also be a MK in Johannesburg, South Africa for 15 years. Jeni and I have both served in ministry in some capacity since we were children and both accepted Jesus early in life. I was called to ministry when I was 17. I worked in the corporate video world for four years until I was hired as a creative video producer for a megachurch where I worked for eight years. The Lord then called us to Gospel Light in 2021. Jeni and I have been married since 2011 and have two wonderful children: our son, Judah and our daughter, Juniper Lynn!
Our desire is to serve the local church in accordance with Scripture and help equip the saints for the work of ministry. My passion is to see Jesus glorified and reach others in the modern context through the use of the video medium, which can go further and faster in spreading the Gospel worldwide. While video communication is certainly a passion of mine and an impactful way to share stories that can have an eternal impact, There is no substitute for sharing the Gospel through personal relationships and making disciples.
I love to travel and experience other cultures. I enjoy watching movies, listening to music and having a traditional Braai (South African cookout.) Fair warning, if you ask me any questions about growing up in South Africa, I’ll most likely talk your ear off.
Jennifer Jenkins
Kids Light Director
Hi, I'm so glad you're here! My name is Jennifer and I am so excited to be the Kids Light Director at Gospel Light!
Before stepping into ministry, I spent 13 years teaching in the classroom—so working with kids has always been a calling on my heart.
I’m a graduate of both Lee University and Clemson University -Go Tigers!. I have loved the Lord for as long as I can remember, and it’s one of the greatest joys of my life to help kids come to know Him too. I’m passionate about helping kids discover who Jesus is, how much He loves them, and what it means to follow Him.
I’m married to my best friend, Ramey, and we have two wonderful adult children, Emily and Garrett. We also share our home with two fun, energetic dogs who definitely keep life interesting! When I'm not at work, you'll usually find me crocheting something cozy, cooking, spending time with friends and family, or cheering on our Clemson Tigers!
Thanks for stopping by — I’d love to connect!
Greg Nichols
Financial Administrator/Elder
I am Greg Nichols. I was saved at the age of 18 on a teen outing, pursued not only by God but also my best friend, who ended up later becoming a pastor himself! I should have known then God was already working His plan for me. I have been teaching and preaching in children’s ministry since 2003. I have an amazing wife, Dodie, who supports and helps me in the ministry and our two amazing children, Savannah and Austin. I was self-employed for 17 years which allowed me the freedom to express my faith and spread the Gospel at any given time. I am now employed at Clemson University but still seek every opportunity to spread the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ.
My passions and hobbies continue to be taking care of my family, gardening, watching basketball, and loving the people around me. I was there at the very first Gospel Light meeting, where just three of us met in a garage! The story of our church began there and the hand of God has been on every gathering since. We here at Gospel Light will continue to spread the Gospel and love you no matter what. See you there! #ForTheChildren

I was born and raised in Anderson, SC where I went to Oakwood Christian School and attended Anderson College. I played basketball at Anderson College and now you can find me in the driveway playing basketball with my two children. I served locally at Temple Baptist Church as deacon and in many other areas over the years. I spent 5 years in Hot Springs, AR serving as Administrative Pastor when God called me to that ministry at Gospel Light Baptist Church. Our family moved back to South Carolina in 2020 and we are so thankful to be back around our family. I am so thankful to the Lord for allowing me to serve in any capacity he has called me to do.

My relationship with Jesus began at the age of 9, and I have experienced His work in my life ever since. After spending time overseas in my early adult years, I gained a new perspective on God through diverse cultures. This experience helped me realize that my faith was not merely about tradition, rules, or what I could "do" for God, but rather was solely based on following Jesus alone and it gave me a desire to share His love with others. The Church has been an incredible source of community and support for me in many seasons of life, and I am passionate about helping others experience personal growth in their own lives.
I am married to Nathan Sellers, and we have two wonderful children, Camilla and Leon. My family is one of my greatest joys and what I consider my first ministry. Having lived in Anderson since middle school, I have a love for this city and its community. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, discovering new coffee spots, and spending time with family and friends.

Raised in the Midwest within a Christian home, I learned about God, the Bible and church from my parents. However, I did not accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior until age 19. Thereafter, I obeyed His example by demonstrating my faith through believer’s baptism. The Lord repeatedly proved Himself faithful throughout my young adult years, and later blessed me with my wife, Kandrea, and our two daughters.
Eventually, our family moved from Minnesota to South Carolina, and we have called the Midway Community of Anderson “home” ever since. Kandrea and I began attending Gospel Light Church in 2023 and enjoy serving our church family in varying capacities. We eagerly anticipate the Lord’s will and provision as GLC continues to grow!
Hey Josh, please update growth track presentation, and elder profile on church website. Thanks so much.
